Though you may book the holiday for a particular date, your departure could early morning on same date or late night on the previous date. If you are planning your travel to departure city / airport, kindly make provision for the same.
Example: If you book your holiday for 18th, your departure could be either on 18th early morning like 1:00/2:00 am or 17th late night like 10:30/11:00 pm.
On arrival you will be met at the Airport. Enroute visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Approximately 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo - Kandy road is Pinnawala, where an orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0930-1000 hrs and 1330-1400 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1230 hrs and 1400-1600 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by. After breakfast; proceed to visit Dambulla Cave Temple. This site is situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Depictions on the walls of the caves include the temptation by the demon Mara and Buddha's first sermon. Later visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress a “UNESCO World Heritage Site” and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island Overnight stay in Dambulla. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kandy. Enroute visit Spice Garden in Matale. Here you will see many spice gardens at Matale and in Mawanella on the Colombo-Kandy road where Cinnamon, Cardamom, Pepper Creepers and all other spice trees, plants and creepers are planted for visitors to see them. Overnight stay in Kandy. (B & D)
After breakfast, commence the City Tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is considered Lanka’s most prized possession. Later visit gem and lapidary museum in Kandy. Overnight stay in Kandy. (B & D)
After breakfast you will proceed for Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. It has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha. Overnight in Colombo. (B & D)
After breakfast, proceed for City tour of Colombo. A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. After breakfast, you have time free at leisure till it’s time to proceed to the airport for your flight back home. (B)
